Academics Overview

The Adelson School delivers a state-of-the-art, rigorous education in a nurturing, secure environment— focused on preparing students to be thoughtful leaders and lifelong learners. The Adelson School spans Preschool (beginning at 18 months) through Grade 12. Across the divisions, we maintain small class sizes, ensuring personalized attention and meaningful relationships between faculty and students.

Both Preschool (18 months to Junior Kindergarten) and Lower School (kindergarten through Grade 5) emphasize a whole child approach, fostering academic growth alongside emotional, social, and ethical development. Students develop academic skills and a genuine love for learning in an inclusive, values-driven community where each child is known and supported.

In Middles School (Grades 6-8), students are guided through a transformative period, balancing intellectual challenge with social-emotional preparedness for High School. Students benefit from shared faculty with High School, easing transitions and allowing for advanced coursework options. Hands-on learning and Focus Area electives (e.g., Tech Biz; Media, Arts & Communications; Pre-Law; Pre-Med; Jewish Studies) give early exposure to specialized fields. Advisory experiences, including reflective dialogue, health education, leadership development, digital citizenship, and annual trips (like camping and national parks excursions), bolster both academic and personal growth.

High School (Grades 9-12) combines academic rigor with personal exploration in tracks ranging from College Prep to Honors and Advanced Placement. We have a robust college preparatory program, including individualized college counseling, test prep, and tailored Path-to-College planning. Advanced Placement performance is strong, with students exceeding state and global averages on over 90% of administered AP exams. According to Private School Review, Adelson is among the top 20% of private schools in Nevada. The Adelson School holds an overall A+ academic rating from Niche and is ranked #2 among Best Private K-12 Schools in Nevada.

The Adelson School admits qualified students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin, sexual orientation, or gender identity to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. The Adelson School does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin, or sexual orientation in the administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic and other school-administered programs.
